When we’re not crashing weddings or leading parades through the streets, you’ll find us lighting up stages at some of the UK and Europe’s biggest and boldest festivals. From the mud-soaked magic of Glastonbury, to the sun-drenched vibes of Latitude, the wild, anything-goes world of Boomtown, and the brass-fuelled brilliance of Durham Brass Festival and Cork Jazz, we’ve brought our signature New Orleans-style energy to crowds of thousands. As a Festival Brass band, we pride ourselves on playing Rio every Carnival too, taking a bit of Yorkshire to the streets of Brazil! Whether it’s a pop up slot in a field, a late-night street party, or entertaining the crowds on a stage, we turn every set into a full-on celebration. So if you’ve seen a bunch of brass-wielding maniacs getting a field full of strangers dancing like their lives depend on it… yeah, that was probably us.

We’ve had so many amazing festival moments. From a crowd surfing trombone solo at Y Not festival, jamming with Rick Astley at Rewind 80s festival, providing a brass section for D_Ream at Glasto, playing at Batumi Heat festival in Georgia and Soundwave festival in Croatia, and most definitely the 5am Hell Stage set at Glastonbury in 2015!
In addition to large mainstream music festivals, NYBB have played at many jazz festivals, proving the versatile crossover style of music can work for many audiences. As a Festival Brass Band, our jazz festival highlights are appearances at Scarborough Jazz Festival, Wigan Jazz Festival, Cork Jazz festival, Manchester Jazz Festival, Burton Agnes Jazz and Blues festival, London Jazz Festival and a sellout concert at Hull Jazz Festival.

QUESTIONS

We are based in Yorkshire, but we’re always happy to consider requests to play anywhere you need us. We’ve been all across the world to bring our big brass sound to events everywhere.

It depends on the event. Generally we would play 2 sets of 50 minutes but every event is different, so get in touch to discuss your requirements.

As every event has different requirements and is in a different location the cost of booking NYBB varies. Please get in touch with details of your event and we will be happy to prepare a quote for you.

Yes! we are happy to learn a song specially for your event.

The band does lots of public performances, get in touch and we will let you know where and when the most convenient gig is for you. Keep an eye on our social media for announcements.

The band has £10m of public liability insurance with the Musicians Union and all our electrical equipment is regularly PAT tested. Please ask us if you need copies of these documents.

We need a minimum area of 6m x 4m if the band is static and using the drum rig. We can also roam around as we can play without power if required.

If the band is playing without amplification we can walk into the venue playing our 1st tune. This gives you lots of scope to surprise your guests with a ‘pop-up’ style band. We sometimes use a small battery powered PA which we can carry in as we enter, if we need to use a larger PA or lights we’ll need 15 minutes to set up.

New York Brass Band sounds at it’s best as a 7-piece group. A 5 or 6 piece band sounds pretty good but the musicians have to work so much harder to produce the sound and the energy, however, let us know the details and we will try to accommodate your budget and requirements.

The band is not paid by the hour, we are paid per performance so reducing the performance time will not have an impact on the price.
