York does Christmas properly. Twinkly lights on the Shambles, mulled wine by the Minster, and the annual dash to book somewhere for the work do before every decent venue is gone.
You can have all the tinsel in Yorkshire, but if the music’s flat, the party’s flat and that’s where we come in.
We’re New York Brass Band. Born on the streets of York, raised on New Orleans jazz, and fully paid-up members of the Make Christmas Louder Society! Whether you want us at your party or you fancy coming to ours, we’ve got your festive season sorted.

WHY A BRASS BAND BEATS A PLAYLIST
A DJ stays behind the decks. We don’t. A New York Brass Band set is loud, live and right in the middle of your guests. Some of Yorkshire’s finest musicians, packing percussion, sax, trumpets, trombones and a sousaphone big enough to hang baubles on – don’t tempt the boss, he’s done stranger things!
No backing tracks, no auto tune, no sheet music. Over 80 tunes, all played from the heart (and memory).
We roam. Drinks reception, dinner, the bar, the dance floor. We go where the party is, and usually take it somewhere better.
Acoustic or amplified. Village hall, city centre restaurant, marquee in a frosty field. We fit in, then we stand out.
Festive and then some. Yes, we’ll play the Christmas classics. We’ll also play the funk, soul, pop, jazz and party anthems that keep people dancing long after the crackers are pulled.
Be warned: past audiences have ended up dancing on tables and conga-ing round the car park. We take no responsibility for your Christmas jumper.

We’re taking bookings now for private Christmas parties in York, across Yorkshire and beyond. If there’s a room full of people who deserve a proper night out, we want to hear about it.
We’ve played for Yorkshire Tea, Harvey Nichols, Chatsworth House and Manchester City FC, so your team won’t faze us. We’ll talk through your crowd, your timings and your must-play bangers, then build a set to suit.

This year we’re bringing the New York Brass Band Christmas party home, with two nights at The Crescent, York. The Crescent is one of York’s best-loved independent venues, and we’re planning to leave it steaming. Expect a full-throttle set of New Orleans brass, festive favourites and every party anthem we can squeeze in. Bring your mates, bring your dancing shoes, and leave your dignity in the cloakroom.
